Has it Been 6 Years? Because You Look 19 Years Younger!
7:15 p.m. - Thursday, Oct. 05, 2006

I saw J0sh's BF today for the first time in 6 years. I've talked to him on the phone a few times or so over the years and he always sounded the same as he did at 16 when I met him. He has a very mousy voice. It's like puberty hit and forgot his vocal chords.

Seeing him today, I realized nothing else has really changed. Must be nice to be 35 and look 16. His hairstyle is a bit updated and so are his clothes, but his build (and probably his weight, butthead) are the same. His stance, the way he fumbled with his keys - all eerily the same.

What was equally as eery was the resemblance between him and J0sh. They've lived in diiferent houses for all of J0sh's life, different states for 6 years and yet the similarities are spooky.

The build, the stance, the fumbling, the inability to look you directly in the eye. J0sh is just two inches shy of his height and will probably reach that and stop.

I met the youngest of his boys and he resembles the wife more than the twins do. They are carbon copies of him, too. It is very eery.

He asked how Josh is doing and we discussed school, his math struggles (i.e. lack of turning in work)and his most recent stunt - skipping school. He told J0sh he was lucky that he was 1600 miles away. Or I suppose he'd whoop him real good. Because his method of discipline used to be bringing him home early, so I could deal with him. He used to say he didn't get to see him enough to be able to discipline him. It wouldn't've been fair.

Yeah, not being a father figure hasn't been real fair either, but who's keeping score? Ignore the scoreboard over there, okay?

He took J0sh out for awhile before he goes to RuthChr1s' Ste@khouse for dinner. Apparently, J0sh knew about it, but wasn't invited. Just like this summer when he made a trip to M@ryland, but couldn't afford to fly J0sh to Mich1gan. Even though it had been two years since he had been there.

He's glad that J0sh is in Maryl@nd now. When they come for Christmas this year, J0sh will already be here. No more airfare expenses.

He said that he disapproved of J0sh's choice of apparel saying he'd never leave his house dressed like that (J0sh tends toward the African American style of clothing). Since his youngest was dressed in B@by G@p maybe I should request a raise in my child support. $60 a week is not buying J0sh the brands he'd approve of, that's for sure.

And we're more concerned with school, smoking, drugs, drinking, promescuity and gangs than whether his pants completely cover his underwear right now.

But, he lives in a small town so I guess those wouldn't be a problem for J0sh there. Oh, wait. He didn't want J0sh to move in with him. Guess that's a mute point then, huh?

I wonder if he is ready to hear about Devin's pregnancy and the possibility of J0sh being the father.

Plus, I need to see if he'll put J0sh on his medical and dental insurance.

Maybe I should lead with that, eh? Yeah, maybe I'll lead with that.

Oh and I found a great weight loss motivator - their Chr1stmas visit. There is NO way I am going to be heavier than his wife. And every time I think about eating when I am not hungry and then I think about her, I'll lose my appetite. Full proof!

Why didn't I think of pettiness before? I mean forget doing it for my health or whatever. I am 13 again.

Welcome to middle school.
