K@ri turns 5 today. I can hardly believe that she is 5. It has been a fantastically delicious ride, these past five years.
She has been such a beam of sunshine for our family since the day she arrived. I remember crying when I found out she was a girl, because I had only raised a boy, J0sh, only knowing and loving Dev1n for 2 years. And she was 9 when she started calling me Mom. How was I ever going to raise a little girl?
But, somehow (sometimes by the grace of God, I'm sure) I have managed to watch my little Bear blossom into a little Princess. And she is very much a princess indeed. She loves all things frilly and pink, especially her ballet outfit, that she has even worn to a restaurant. But, you can also find her in her jeans and favorite t-shirt of the moment, wrestling with N0ah and not minding at all being muddy. She has enjoyed soccer, but wants to dance this fall. She will dress herself in a dress and party shoes, but loathes having her hair curled or fixed in ponytails.
Right now she is trying to convince R1ck that it is time to open all of her gifts, even though we wanted her to wait until her party tonight to open the rest. We have already played CandyLand and she wants to play her Vsm1le Bratz game soon. And she got some Str@wberry Sh0rtcake swimmies and beach ball in anticipation of her swim party tonight. Which may be relocated if the rain doesn't hold off.
When I look at the little girl across the room from me, I am amazed at the gift God gave us 5 years ago. And I am glad He gives me strength and grace every day to raise a Princess.
